Interment
Interment of deceased persons and cremated remains of deceased persons must by done by the service provider designated by the Board of Directors. Interments must meet the standards set out by the State of Iowa and the Association Board of Directors.
Monuments
The Board of Directors has established standards for setting of monuments. We encourage members and families to obtain the services of a reputable dealer familiar with our standards; a list can be made available upon request. Failure to follow these standards can result in unsightly tipping of stones, etc. We consider this disrespectful to the deceased.
Installers must abide by Iowa Code 523I.305.
Decorations
Decorations must be placed immediately next to monuments. Freestanding items away from monuments will be removed.
Decorations will be removed after one month.
No glass or breakable containers.
No loose stones around monuments.
Permanent plantings must be approved in advance by the Board.
Care of the Cemetery
Every effort is made to maintain the grounds in the most beautiful and respectful way possible. Questions, concerns, and compliments may be addressed to the Board for proper response.
Each year the Board of Directors contracts with a person or persons for mowing and general care of the cemetery grounds. Interested parties should submit a written bid to the Board by March 15, for services starting mid-April and carrying through the growing season.
Pursuant to Iowa Code 523I, anyone who vandalizes, desecrates, injures, trespasses, destroys, defaces, or damages the cemetery property or any part thereof will be subject to criminal penalties and will be required to reimburse the cemetery for the amount of the damage caused. This statute also provides that parents/guardians of minors who violate this law will be liable for reimbursement to the cemetery. Anyone aware of a violation of cemetery protection statutes should immediately report the matter to the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and the Association.
The Association assumes no liability for acts of vandalism or defacing. Repairs and replacements are the sole responsibility of the lot holder.
Information about reservations for individuals under the age of majority.
While we do have a small amount of information about family relationships, the Association does not have staff to answer genealogy questions. We refer inquiries to local genealogy groups, such as the Jasper County Genealogical Society.
